Tasmania’s capital city was overrun with the latest agricultural equipment and machinery last week with the Kubota Australia Conference 2018 taking place in Hobart.

Accompanying the 250 delegates from across the nation for the 17 and 18 October conference, was a huge range of construction equipment including skid steers and excavators, 15 tractors and 40 farm implements, on display at Princes Wharf 1 (PW1), adjacent to Hobart’s picturesque River Derwent.

Business Events Tasmania CEO Marnie Craig describes the conference as a positive for Tasmania. ‘It’s great that national events such as this are choosing Hobart, it just shows that being an island is no obstacle for conferences that require large exhibition space. If we can display tractors with ease, really anything is possible!”

Delegates moved between PW1 and Mona with the program including product releases, presentations, a formal dinner and field day with many staying within the Hobart waterfront area.

PW1’s Venue Manager Tom McDevitt welcomed the group and the opportunity to work with Kubota Australia on the exhibit, saying ‘from all our talented Tasmanian suppliers, to the entire Kubota Australia team, the skill and team work involved in such a large and premium event with all the logistical challenges thrown in there as this event has, has been nothing short of exceptional.

‘Having a venue in Hobart like PW1 is now a major reason why national conferences have and will select Hobart and it is a very important opportunity to showcase our Tasmania to a national audience. We’re getting a lot of interest from national conference organisers because of PW1’s uniqueness, flexibility and its blank canvas appeal… clients are starting to realise all the benefits of what a great conference hub PW1 can be whether for expo, plenary, gala dinners or a combination of all 3’ said McDevitt

Why Hobart? Well Kubota Australia’s General Manager Sales & Marketing, Malcolm Owens sums it up… ‘We pride ourselves on selecting, both picturesque and historic locations to showcase our new ranges and marketing programs to our national network. Each year we select a different location and state and we felt Hobart is a significant attraction for both business and pleasure. Princess Wharf 1 made it especially easy to choose Hobart, as the venue surprised with its size and versatility.

‘We were particularly impressed with how easy it was for our delegates to get around the city. From the accommodation venues, to the conference venue, exhibition space and local restaurants, everything was just a short scenic walk’
