Business Events Tasmania’s 29th Annual General Meeting was held last Thursday at the Henry Jones Art Hotel in Hobart.
BET Chairman Mark Kelleher presented on the contribution of business events to the Tasmanian economy, highlighting that the overall business events, conference and meeting market is worth in excess of $120 million annually. Importantly much of this economic impact is achieved in the shoulder and winter periods, benefitting Tasmanian tourism and hospitality businesses outside of the traditionally busy leisure tourism season.
The presentation at the AGM by Martin Turmine, Senior Manager Brand Tasmania, was very well received. It provided an insight into the work currently being undertaken by Brand Tasmania, the future of the organisation and the role of all Tasmanian’s and Tasmanian businesses in shaping and promoting the Tasmanian Brand.
With BET Directors Paula Leishman and Ralph Freckleton having fulfilled their current two-year term on the BET Board of Directors, and with three nominations having been received for two Elected Director positions, an election was held at the AGM as per BET’s Constitution.
The election resulted in the re-election of Paula Leishman and the appointment of Maria Lurighi to the BET Board of Directors.
